Silvia Lerín

Silvia Lerín

MEDIUM: Painting
CITY: London, UK

Line and geometry are at the center of Silvia Lerín’s artistic proposal, a Spanish artist based in London, who synthetizes reality thought color and minimalism. To Silvia, the artistic creation is a process of exploring the boundaries of objects and their function; her pieces are the result of an intensive study of the color, shape and material of objects she finds inspiring.
With solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Germany, Finland, UK and Spain, Silva hasn’t let her early success challenge her sensibility and purity when reproducing her surroundings in her artworks. The artist synthetizes both elements of nature and urban spaces through geometric figures and bold colors, transforming her emotions into a minimal and modern aesthetic discourse.
In her artwork series, talented and passionate Silvia Lerín invites us to experience her reality in an elegant and colorful way, turning her into one of the most successful emerging Spanish artists producing in London.
All paintings are originals, signed by the artist and come with a signed certificate of authenticity. Delivery in perfect condition, directly from the artist’s studio.

“My artistic proposal is based on finding new ways of creation through the interaction of different materials, mostly painted cotton canvases, and ensembles of ‘found’ pieces. This research allows me to find new shapes and forms, through textures, colors and volumes that emerged by manipulating the objects.
I decided to move to London after receiving the Pollock-Krasner of New York fellowship, which allowed me to develop my artistic career using their financial aid. I found London an extremely challenging city, and the first obstacle I faced was to know how to use the ‘London Underground’ (in which I spent a lot of my time), this ironically contributed to my first project ‘Mind the Gap’. The shapes, colors and even the plastics I found in the underground stations deeply inspired me.
A year later my project ‘Inspired by an English garden’ took form, really different from ‘Mind the Gap’ in terms of color, but still holding to the artistic approach I have been developing in my previous pieces. The contrast between ‘under the earth’ of my series ‘Mind the Gap’ and ‘surface’ of my series ‘Inspired by an English Garden’ was so big in its nature and colors… I realized that my art was developing as if it were a novel, the series like chapters, the artworks like pages…”
