ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mercè Girona is a well-known American-Spanish artist based Barcelona, her work, an abstract ode to reality is the result of a constant investigation and experimentation with diverse materials, with which, driven by her subconscious, she portrays the world through a sinuous and expressive abstraction. After her studies in United States, in recognised institutions such as The University of Massachusetts and Parsons School of Design in New York, Mercè creates now from her studio in Barcelona, dynamic and expressive pieces.
Inspired by nature and poetry, Mercè Girona expresses her sensations in an almost poetic dance between the canvas and the brush, the watercolour and the paper. Powered with an exquisite technique, Mercè experimented in fields as diverse as painting, sculpture, video-art, jewellery and installation. Through her extensive artistic career, Mercè keeps charming not only the critics, but the collectors with her powerful artworks made for a timeless aesthetic pleasure that goes beyond generations.
All artworks are originals, signed by the artist and come with a signed certificate of authenticity. Delivery in perfect condition, directly from the artist’s studio.

IN MY OWN WORDS
“I see my work as a visual conversation between the concrete and abstraction. I observe the natural world, the images one captures on a daily basis and I let the subconscious guide the way.
A landscape, a shape, a certain colour, a movement, a poem, a smell, a melody…everyday things to be transformed into an abstract thought. Asymmetry, rhythm and reoccurrence play an important role in this development. My working process is intuitive and manifested in a spiral sense…. I rarely work in a straight line.
Although I begin with an idea it becomes defined through the process itself Upon arriving at its completion, I never know where it will take me till after the piece is finished.”
