Ivan Forcadell

Ivan Forcadell

MEDIUM: Painting
CITY: Barcelona, Spain

Iván Forcadell is an artist originally from Tarragona, Spain. At 14, due to a medical condition, he had to spend months in bed, where he created his first artworks. From this moment forward, he took an active interest in painting and XIX Century Catalan art.
Years later he decided to move to Barcelona to study Design and Art, which, for the first time, inspired him to focus on his own artistic process and develop his artistic identity.
Nonsense and incoherence define the artist’s work; the unbridled use of bright colors and bold and imperfect paint strokes are the characteristic elements of Ivan’s paintings. Fashion is a recurring theme in his work, as well as nature and maritime environments.
The irreverence captured in his pieces, the mastery of an expressive gestural style and the use of conceptual words develop the artist’s narrative through the creation of symbols and cultural icons that define today’s society.
Artig Gallery presents a series of paintings and illustrations of the young artist. All works are signed and will be delivered with a certificate of authenticity, directly from the artist’s studio.

“I dedicated two years only to familiarize and analyze the art world before I started creating and developing pieces. Currently I live with my artwork and I am very happy, because I love what I do. My art is very personal, it’s a part of my life and I don’t care what others think of it - I will keep on doing my thing.
The notion behind my plastic work is based on my intention to transmit happiness without reason and a touch of humor. There is always a hidden concept behind each piece and I like to leave people guessing about it; explaining the concept would be too personal for me.”
